For her first act as commissar, Kesaeva tapped Boris Groys as curator, who debuted with Andrei Monastyrski and Collective Actions. Now it appears Russia will feature another of the giants of Moscow Conceptualism, Vadim Zakharov. At one point a member of multiple collectives (including a personal favorite, CZ), Zakharov has since distinguished himself as an artist, theorist and art historian (co-authoring WAM’s essential tome on the movement, Moscow Conceptualism, with Katya Degot in 2005.)
This will be Zakharov’s second installation in Venice. He appeared with a sumo-wrestling project in 2002 at the 49th Biennale.
More information will be updated to the Pavilion website as it is available.
