Baibakov Art Projects extends its warmest congratulations to New Museum curator Massimiliano Gioni, who has just been named the curator of the 2013 Venice Biennale.
In addition to spearheading the New Museum’s upcoming Generational show, The Ungovernables, Gioni is responsible for the ground-breaking summer show, Ostalgia, which for many a visitor provided an insightful introduction to the art of Eastern Europe, including young Russian phenoms Evgeny Antufiev and David Ter-Oganyan alongside the more established Olga Chernysheva, Victor Alimpiev, Andrei Monastyrski and Pavel Pepperstein. We hope this experience signals the presence of more Eurasian artists within the Italian Pavilion and Arsenale, but in any case, we know Massimiliano is sure to make it a memorable summer!
