Tonight, Casey Kaplan Gallery in New York opens “Gentleman’s Relish”, the latest exhibition by the always phenomenal Matthew Brannon.
Matthew was featured alongside Walead Beshty, Wade Guyton, Sterling Ruby and Kelley Walker in Baibakov Art Projects‘ 2009 exhibition, FIVE. The artist also produced a unique work for the cover of the FIVE catalogue, published in 2011.
Tonight, Matthew Brannon launches a catalogue all his own: “Hyenas Are..”, published by Mousse Publishing, is the result of a five year collaboration with LA-based critic and curator Jan Tumlir. While Matthew has ventured into publishing before (one of his plays was featured in an installation at Baibakov Art Projects), this particular effort has been long awaited by anyone who has ever been stopped in their tracks by Matthew’s witty (and occasionally heart-breaking) combinations of text and image.

“Gentleman’s Relish” will be on view at Casey Kaplan Gallery until December 17, 2011.
