Baibakov Art Projects is proud to join Paperworks Gallery in announcing the publication of Valery Chtak‘s Bits of Truth, a 165-page, full color catalogue celebrating the work of one of Moscow’s most adamant individuals.
The format spikes images of Chtak’s works – from series of skateboards to details from total installations, like the one he created for Baibakov Art Projects’ inaugural exhibition, “invasion : evasion,” in 2008 – with photographs from the artist’s studio, capturing the peculiarities of his process: the empty Coke bottles and full ashtrays, the couch cushions and other found materials used to create texture to his layered, graffiti-like compositions. The catalogue features texts by Ekaterina Degot, Alexey Buldakov and Ilya Malkin and an interview with the artist, conducted by Nikolai Oleinikov.
The catalogue is the first from Paperworks Publishing and has been produced with support from Baibakov Art Projects. It will be officially launched in Moscow on October 26, 2011, at 8pm at ArtAkademia in the Red October Chocolate Factory. On October 30, Chtak will give a lecture at 3pm at the Garage Center for Contemporary Culture.
